AUDITIONS 2010
How do I try for a place?
Successful applicants start in September
Orchestras, Wind Bands, Brass Bands, Percussion & Guitar Ensembles
Prepare two contrasting pieces with scales appropriate to your grade*. Sight-reading will also be tested.
N.B.
Existing members of Brass Bands are auditioned during rehearsals.Choirs
Perform a song of your choice.
Jazz groups
(N.B. "Junior Jazz" is available only to pupils in school years 7 to 9)Prepare a piece, not necessarily jazz, of your choice. Sight reading will also be tested.
If you wish to, you may improvise with accompaniment on a 12 bar blues. If you don't want to improvise, please come along anyway!* Grades are not a requirement, just a guide
.Applicants are expected to work their way up from beginner groups to more advanced groups (e.g. Transitional to High Schools' to Youth). There is no requirement to stay in one strand, i.e. a member of Transitional Orchestra may audition for High Schools' Wind Band and/or Orchestra on the same instrument.
Pupils may be members of several different ensembles.
All members are expected to support their school ensembles.
